One of the jointly operated Chicago and NorthWestern Railway - Union Pacific Railroad streamlined diesel locomotives M-10003 - M-10006, Chicago, Illinois, 1942.
Caption: “Amtrak’s Denver Zephyr just departed Chicago Union Station for
its overnight run with an early Amtrak rainbow of cars and locos on
October 14, 1972. The lead E8A (BN 9934) was built as CB&Q 9941B and
became AMTK 333. Note the strange spark arrestors. After taking the two
oncoming shots I hustled across Roosevelt Road to take the going away
shot. This day the DZ had two round-end observation dome cars looking
like they were Twin City Zephyr cars. BN and then Amtrak kept the
CB&Q’s Denver Zephyr running until October 26, 1973 when it was
combined with the California Zephyr.”
Unexpected publication (they told me that I had sent in one day too late but it seems to be in the magazine anyway now) of four sets that I shot with Belinda Bärtzner in Göteborg one year ago.
